Abstract : The aim of this study is to emphasize the existence of a relation between the internal structure of a crystal and its external morphology. Two crystals were chosen whose structure and morphology are both known. These are naphthalene and diphenyl crystals which belong both to the monoclinic system . From the known of atomic coordinates determined, previously by x-ray diffraction, the values of the surface energy of the planes having simple indices were calculated. The calculated values of specific surface energy of the different planes were used to determine the crystal equilibrium form according Wulff 's method, which is based on the formula of Gibbs . The equilibrium forms obtained by this method for both crystals of naphthalene and diphenyl are in good agreement with the experimentally observed morphology.
