Abstract

This study aimed to verify the existence of differences in preferred learning styles among students of Yanbu colleges depending on the variables of (academic achievement، sex، academic specialization، and place of residence)، in addition to verify the existence of a relationship between learning styles and academic achievement among students. To achieve the objectives of the study، the researcher used the Descriptive Correlative method. The researcher used the scale of preferred Learning Styles of Reid Model prepared by (Ma`shi & Yousef، 2014). The study population consisted of college students of the Royal Commission in Yanbu. It has been selected a sample of 365 students from the Collages of Royal Commission in Yanbu. The results showed - No statistically significant differences have been found of the preferred learning styles due to academic achievement (high، medium، low) in all learning styles except for (individual، opened، closed) learning styles. - No statistically significant differences have been found of the preferred learning styles according the academic specialization (literary، administrative، scientific) in all learning styles except for the (introvert) learning style، and the differences came in favor of the administrative specialization. - No statistically significant differences have been found of the preferred learning styles according the place of residence in all learning styles except for (auditory، visual and closed) learning styles. - No statistically significant differences at the level (α ≤ 0.05) due to the effect of sex in all styles، except for (the auditory، opened، and closed) learning styles. - The results showed a statistically positive relationship between each of the (individual، closed learning style) and academic achievement of colleges students، and the existence of a statistically negative relationship between the collective learning style and the academic achievement among colleges students، while there is a statistically significant correlation between the other learning styles and academic achievement among students of colleges.
