Abstract
:
This study aimed to reveal the level of optimism and post-traumatic growth among a sample of people recovered from COVID-19 in Jeddah, explore the relationship between optimism and post-traumatic growth, the study also aimed to measure the differences in optimism and post-traumatic growth according to some demographic variables (gender, age, marital status). The study sample consisted of (393) person recovered from COVID-19. To collect the data,the researcher used the optimism scale developed by Muhammad Shaheen and Abeer Shaheen (2021) and the post-traumatic growth scale translated by Muhammad Ahmed and Ibrahim Muhammad (2022).The researcher employed the descriptive correlational approach to the study. The results of the study showed a high level of optimism and post-traumatic growth, as well as ,there is statistically significant correlation between optimism and post-traumatic growth among the study sample. The results also indicated that there were no statistically significant differences in optimism among the study sample due to (gender, age, marital status) while the results indicated that there were statistically significant differences in post-traumatic growth due to gender ,in favor to the males, while the results showed there were no statistically significant differences due to (age, marital status). In light of these results, a number of recommendations were made, including: activating the role of counseling centers to provide the necessary psychological services and enhancing hope and optimism during crises and disasters, Expanding services in counseling and psychotherapy and integrating the concept of post-traumatic growth into clinical practice as a possible outcome for individuals who have experienced traumatic events.
